THANK YOU from the DC
09/07/2018 By Helen Hannigan

As we are winding down for the summer break can I thank all the Leaders and Occasional Helpers who work so hard to ensure all our Young People have and amazing time in Scouting whether at Camps or at their weekly meeting. We are a successful District and we need to continue to build on that.

My thanks also to a great District Team who work not only in their own Groups but work hard to ensure the District Sections have opportunities to experience different things together.

If you think you have something to offer and want to be part of the team please contact me for an informal chat. There are opportunities on the Appointments Committee and we need an Assistant District Beaver Leader to work with Dan Sedgewick, to mention but 2.

Have a great summer break and come back refreshed and ready to continue with great Scouting.

Open fires at Tawd Vale are prohibited

With immediate effect and until further notice, based on recent public warnings and guidelines from the Merseyside Fire Service to avoid open fires in the countryside, we have taken the decision to strictly prohibit all open / ground fires, including the use of disposable barbecues, at Tawd Vale, until rainfall and risk reduces.

Additionally:

  • Please don’t leave bottles or glass in woodland – sunlight shining through glass can start fires
  • Ensure cigarettes are extinguished correctly and cannot reignite - don’t throw cigarette ends on the ground
  • If you see a fire, report it to the fire and rescue service immediately by calling 999 and give the nearest main road that the fire appliance can access - our address is Lowry Hill Lane, L40 5UL
  • Don’t attempt to tackle fires– leave the area as quickly as possible.

Further advice is available here: http://www.merseyfire.gov.uk/aspx/pages/LatestNews/NewsDetail.aspx?id=2021

I have asked that non-compliance is reported directly to me.

Thank you in advance for your support.

County Commissioner

As Scouts, we are committed to preparing more young people with skills for life, supported by amazing leaders delivering an inspiring programme. We will be growing, more inclusive, shaped by young people and making a bigger impact in our communities.

We’ve listened to you, and our plan for the next five years is based on what you’ve told us is important. It’s a plan that will deliver better support for volunteers and contribute to a better society. But most of all, it’s a plan for young people. They deserve the best skills, the best support and the best possible futures.

What now?

  1. Understand the plan and watch the video
  2. Find out what to do in your role
  3. Share our new film, Skills for Life: Nat’s story on social media with this message: Proud to be preparing young people in Scouts with #SkillsForLife

Take me to our plan

Our goals can only be achieved if we work together. It’s the collective power of Scouting that will grow our movement; an inclusive movement shaped by young people, making a bigger impact on our communities.
